Obituary of Edith May (Taylor) Nitzsche
It is with heartfelt sorrow to announce the passing of Mrs. Edith May (Taylor) Nitzsche, age 84, on March 26 at 7:35 pm peacefully in her home with family at her side. Edith was born on May 11, 1934 in Brownsburg, Canada to Father, Robert and Mother, (Maud) Elizabeth (Fisher) Taylor. She was the youngest and last surviving sibling to brothers Robert, Allen, Lionel, Gordon, Stanley, and sisters Ruth, Lillian, Elsie, Margaret with many extended family members. Edith was married on November 22, 1958 in Stoneham, MA to the late Erich W. Nitzsche who passed in 1994 at the age of 58. Erich W Nitzsche owned and operated a professional civil engineering and land surveying firm, Robert E. Anderson Inc. providing for his family including working in Egypt. Edith completely supported her husband, nurturing and raising her family with great pride and joy. First and foremost, she cherished her children, grandchildren and family. Edith served as a cafeteria aid for more than 20 years in the elementary and middle schools in North Andover, MA. In 2006, she relocated to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Asheville, NC to enjoy her retirement years with her daughter and son-in- law, her “fur” child Grayson the cat and be amongst the black bears. Here is where she became known as “Mama E”. For several years, her passion of volunteering her services touched many life’s at St Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville. She loved everyone she met providing positive energy and a lending ear. Edith enjoyed being in her kitchen providing comfort food for many that came to visit. She was an elegant lady who loved to travel both near and far; and being always open to learning and enjoying new adventures and cultures while meeting others. Her surviving children include her son, Erich R. Nitzsche and his children Justin, Cory, Walter and Carol Ann and his wife Linda (Outlaw) Nitzsche and her five children and nine grandchildren all of North Reading, MA, her son Keith E Nitzsche and his son James Perry of Ware, MA and her daughter Corinne (Nitzsche) Kelley and her husband Bill Kelley of Asheville, NC and his two children. In memory, visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, April 3 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, MA from 4-8 pm. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, April 4 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest with her loving husband, friend and partner at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Lake St, Peabody, MA.
