Obituary of Stacia (Chigas) Martin
Stacia (Chigas) Martin, 92, died peacefully at the Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield surrounded by her family on Wednesday April 3, 2019 after a lengthy illness. Born in Peabody, she was the wife of the late Walter F. Martin with whom she shared 38 years of marriage. She graduated from Peabody High School and was employed for over 20 years as an inspector at GTE Sylvania in Salem. Stacia was a voracious reader and an avid consumer of national and international news. Additionally, Stacia enjoyed traveling, including trips to Israel, Ireland and Greece. What Stacia cherished most was her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be remembered best for love of family and her delight in their personal accomplishments. She is survived by her children Walter Martin and his wife Elizabeth of Pelham, NH, Anthony Martin, Mary and her husband Thomas Walsh all of Peabody, four grandchildren, Jaclyn, Kimberly, Elizabeth and Sean, as well as her 7 greatgrandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Angelica Vontzalides of Peabody. Stacia was predeceased by her parents Argeri “Harry” and Despina (Pieropoulos) Chigas and her siblings Bessie, Stephen, Arthur, Nicholas and Mary Chigas and Sophia St. Claire. The family would like to express its great appreciation to the caregivers and staff of Masconomet Healthcare Center. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody on Saturday April 6, 2019 from 9 to 10:30 A.M. with her funeral mass immediately following at 11 A.M. at St. Ann’s Church 136 Lynn Street in Peabody. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery in Salem.
