Obituary of Tessa J. Geomelos

Tessa J. Geomelos, 20 PEABODY -- Tessa Janet Geomelos, 20, passed peacefully to heaven on Monday April 8, 2019 at the Boston Children’s Hospital, after courageously battling a lifelong illness. She was in the comforting presence of her family. Born in Stoneham, she was the daughter of Michael and Catherine (Katsarakes) Geomelos. She was a lifelong Peabody resident. Tessa attended the Cotting School in Lexington, and was studying Liberal Arts at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley. She was also interning at the State House for Representative Ted Speliotis. Tessa was very proud of playing and coaching basketball at Cotting School, St. Vasilios, and the Metropolis of Boston Basketball League. Volunteering was very important to Tessa. She volunteered for the City of Peabody, St. Vasilios Church, Haven From Hunger, We Are America, Special Olympics and many others. Tessa loved all things Disney, and her magical personality shone through with numerous family visits to Disneyworld. Tessa had a strong passion and love for animals (especially her dogs), being out in nature, creative writing, and all holidays. She enjoyed writing song lyrics and was a fabulous cook. Tessa participated for many years in the Special Olympics winning gold, silver and bronze medals in running, long jump, and javelin. She loved the United States Military and all law enforcement, especially the Massachusetts State Police. Her favorite colors were blue and lime green, as bright colors made her happy, and she in turn created happiness and so many cherished memories for others. Tessa loved her Boston sports teams, especially the Red Sox and Patriots. As a matter of fact, Tessa loved everything in this world, except “those Yankees!” She will be dearly missed and was loved by everyone who was touched by her life. Tessa’s large, loving, extended family includes her parents Michael and Catherine Geomelos of Peabody, and sisters Janet and Deana Geomelos; her paternal grandparents Tessie (Orgettas) Geomelos of Peabody and the late Peter Geomelos; her maternal grandparents Danny and Janet (Ostaszewski) Katsarakes of Lynn; aunts and uncles Tracy and Chris Gangi and their children Geena, Toni, and Danny; Lenny and Rose Geomelos and their children Sophia and Peter; Clare and Peter Coco and their daughter Alex; and Rena and Chris Xerras and their sons Thomas and Peter; her Godfather George N. Katsarakes; Godbrothers Alex and Chris Halpin, and Yanni Pappas and Godsister Samantha (Katsarakes) White. Tessa was very close with many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
