Obituary of Ana Coutinho Patuleia Valente
Ana Coutinho Patuleia Valente, RN, 90 PEABODY – Ana Coutinho Patuleia Valente, RN, 90, beloved wife of Ilidio Valente, died peacefully on Monday April 15, 2019 at her son’s home, while in the comforting presence of her family. Born in the village of Galveias, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Jose Nunes Patuleia and Teresa (Coutinha) Patuleia. Ana moved to Peabody with her family at the age of 7. She went to the Carroll School and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1951. She studied Nursing at Whidden Memorial Hospital School. After completing her training, she went to Portugal to visit family. Her cousin Marguerite introduced Ana to her Godson Ilidio Valente. Ana reported that it was love at first sight and brought Ilidio home to Peabody where they were blessed with a lifetime of memories, and celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary last Sunday April 14th. Ana lived her life as a servant and loved our Lord. She was an active member of the South Congregational Church for over 80 years and was a Sunday School Teacher there for more than 50 years. Mom always put family first behind Jesus, and considered so many people part of her family. She worked as a Nurse at J.B. Thomas Hospital for 12 years before leaving to raise her three children. Ana and Ilidio brought his parents over from Portugal as they grew older. Later Ana’s parents joined their household as Ana cared for all four parents. Together Ana and Ilidio owned and operated Ocean View Lodge & Cottages in Dennisport. Ana enjoyed meeting people from all around the world. In addition to her husband, Ana is survived by her sons Ilidio and his wife Dianne and Diogo “Joe” and his wife Elaine, her son-in-law Anthony Vorrias all of Peabody; her grandchildren Jessica, Robert and Amanda, Andrea, Derek, Gerry & Kirsten, Jeffrey, Rebeca & Mark, Sarah, Samantha, and Matthew; her great-grandchildren Cheyenne, Alex, Patience, Aivril, and William; her sister-in-law Jacquina Braganca of Galveias, Portugal, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased, besides her parents, by her daughter Teresa Vorrias, great-grandson Nicholas Valente, her son-in-law Gerry Spencer, her brother Rufino and his wives Phyllis and Evelyn, and her nephew Rudy. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday from 4 – 7 P.M. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Her Funeral Service Celebration of her Life will be on Friday April 19, 2019 at 8:30 AM in South Congregational Church, Peabody. Interment for family and close friends at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Church General Fund, 60 Prospect St., Peabody, MA 01960 or a charity of one’s choice.
