Joan E. “Dolly” Kelly
PEABODYJoan E. “Dolly” Kelly, 73, beloved wife of George Kelly of Peabody, died peacefully Monday evening at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a long illness.
Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Jensen) Wingard. She lived in East Boston and Winthrop in her youth, and graduated from East Boston High School.
Besides a short time that she worked in Secretarial or Bookkeeper roles for a few different companies, she was mostly at home providing a nurturing environment for her family. She was quite a talented cake decorator, and enjoyed making candies and other foods for friends and family gatherings. She loved decorating for Christmas, gardening and tending her flowers, and was a woman very devoted to her Christian faith, passing on her legacy of family values, and was very proud of her Norwegian and Swedish heritage.
She is survived by: her husband, George Kelly of Peabody, with whom she would have shared 54 years of marriage on July 4th; three daughters and sons-in-law, Donna & Stephen Kline, Patricia & Laurence Robertie, and Joan & Daniel White, all of Peabody; four grandchildren, Kelly Robertie, Richard Robertie, Daniel White, and Christopher White, all of Peabody; three sisters, Ann Marie McCarthy of East Boston, Barbara Colantuone of Pembroke, and Linda Bertolino of South Weymouth, and a sister-in-law, Constance Wingard of Foxborough, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Wingard.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather for her funeral on Saturday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. new facility location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 11 AM in the Messiah Lutheran Church, corner of Lowell & Chestnut Sts., Lynnfield.
A visitation will be held today from 6 to 8 P.M, and Friday from 4 to 8 P.M.
Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
Memorial donations may be made to the North Shore Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
