Obituary of Mary Phyllis (Graves) Peters

Mary Phyllis (Graves) Peters, 84, beloved wife of the late Joseph G. Peters, Sr., formerly of 12 Crowninshield St., died early Saturday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home in Peabody following a lengthy illness. Born in Peabody, she was a lifelong resident of the city. She was the daughter of the late Owen and Margaret (Keenan) Graves. She attended Peabody schools, and graduated from Peabody High School. Mrs. Peters worked at the G.E. Riverworks Plant in Lynn, and at Kresge’ s Department Store at the North Shore Shopping Center in Peabody before the new North Shore Mall, and was employed mostly as a Clerk with the City of Peabody Water Department until her retirement about 20 years ago. She enjoyed being with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren,and was active with the Peabody Golden Agers, and the social activities at 12 Crowninshield St. She also was a meticulous archivist, keeping family history in tact in writing and with pictures. She is survived by: two sons, Phil Peters and Joseph Peters, Jr., both of Peabody; two grandchildren, Jody Minichillo and Joseph Peters, III, both of Peabody; two great-grandchildren, Brielle Almeida and Anthony Minichillo, both of Peabody, and several nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8 AM from the Cahill-Brodeur facility at 20 Church St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Mrs. Peters always supported the Plummer Home for Boys, Winter Island, Salem, MA where memorial donations may be made, or to a similar organization.
