Larry chose me to work for him at the Instrumentation Lab in 1956. He was a great teacher with an unencumbered and positive view of life and of the place of women in leadership positions. When he left for MITRE, I got his job, but never replaced him. He was unique, a joy to work for, and later to work with as a colleague. I always benefited from his positiveness and willingness to help. Having him as my first major boss was the most important employment experience of my post-college life.<br>My sympathies to his wife and daughters(I only knew of the older ones). I often thought how lucky they were to have such a role model always around. He was special and ahead of his time.<br>- Claire Pirani Russell
