Obituary of Arthur S Smyrnios

Arthur S. Smyrnios, 91, of Peabody, died early Monday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Scullin) Smyrnios with whom he shared three years of marriage, and the late Mary (Baribo) Smyrnios with whom he shared over 45 years of marriage. Born and raised in Peabody, he was the son of the late Speros and Panagiota (Kapetanakis) Smyrnios. He was a lifelong resident of the city of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools. Prior to his retirement many years ago, he worked in the family business for over 40 years for the Flying Yankee Restaurant in Auburn. He also enjoyed taking long day trips in his car and also enjoyed eating at various restaurants on the North Shore. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and David Doyle of Beverly, a brother and sister-in-law, Peter and Katherine Smyrnios of Fla.; a sister, Annie Kassotis of Bellevue, Fla., and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Stephen Smyrnios, Catherine Saris, Helen Panesis, Mary Theros, and Agnes Apostolakos. His service will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Service in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Wednesday from 4 until 7 PM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
