Obituary of Marilyn J. (Costas) Vounessea

Marilyn J. (Costas) Vounessea, 72, of North Andover, MA died on Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. She was the devoted wife of 51 years to Steven Vounessea. She was born in Peabody, MA and was the daughter of the late James and Sevi Costas. She was raised in Danvers, MA graduating from Danvers High School in 1964. She later graduated from the Chandler School for Women in Boston in 1966. Marilyn had been a real estate broker with the Schruender Real Estate firm in North Andover for over 10 years prior to her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening around her home and doing needlepoint and crossword puzzles. She had been a member of the daughters of the Eastern Star. What she cherished most was being with her family and being “YiaYia” to her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Steven, her son and daughter-in-law, Stefan and Lea Vounessea of Peabody, her daughter and son-in-law, Krista and Eric Lynch of North Andover, her seven grandchildren, Alana, James, Alyssa and Janna Vounessea all of Peabody, and Michael, Olivia and Emily Lynch all of North Andover, a sister and brother-in-law, Carolee and James McCulloch of Danvers, a sister-in-law, Ruth Galaris of Sayville, N.Y. and many cousins, nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St, Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 11:30 AM from the funeral home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody at 12:30 PM.
