Obituary of Peter C. "Cappy" Kappotis

Peter C. “Cappy” Kappotis 95, of Peabody, died peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House on Sunday, May 12, 2019. He was the husband of the late Julia “Mitzy” (Sarbanis) Kappotis. Born in Middleton on March 19,1924, he was the son of the late Constantine and Chrisoula (Theothedoplos) Kappotis. Raised and educated in Peabody he was a graduate of Peabody High School. During WWII he served in the U. S. Army with the Hq Co 63rd Armd Inf Bn in the Rhineland and was honorably discharged in 1946. Peter was employed at Bay State Coffee Company in Salem, Salem State College. Following his retirement from Salem State he took a part time job at Market Basket in Middleton a position he held from 18 years. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody, a member of St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, and enjoyed traveling to Hawaii with family. In addition to spending time with his family, as a sports fan he enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox. Peter leaves a daughter Cynthia Kappotis and his sister Angie Eftim both of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Anne Tsouris, Joan Fedas, Mildred Baltoumas, and George and Ernie Kappotis. Peter’s family wishes to extend their sincere thank you to the home health agencies of Bayada and Freedom Care for the passionate care extended to him. His family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, May 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 82 Lynn St., Peabody. His funeral will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home followed by his service at 10 a.m. at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church Elevator Fund, 7 Paleologos St. Peabody MA 01960. Burial will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
