Obituary of Olivia A. Machado

Oliva A. Machado, 76, of Peabody, passed away Monday evening at the Brudnick Center in Peabody, following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Machado, who passed away in 2006. Olivia was born on January 19, 1943, in Faial, Azores, Portugal, daughter of the late Anthony and Belmira (Sousa) Picanco. She was raised and educated there, before making Peabody her home in 1959 Prior to her retirement, she worked as an electronic assembler for Varian in Beverly. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Peabody. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing, cooking and gardening. She is survived by a son Dean Machado of Marblehead, MA; a daughter, Jennifer Clackett & her husband Thomas of East Boston, MA; her granddaughters, Amelia and Florence, her siblings, Anthony Picanco & his wife Lucia of Rowley, Manuel Picanco & his wife Susan of Peabody, Maria George & her husband Joseph of Salem, Alice Amaral of Peabody, and Dina Wood of WV, and also many nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held on Friday May 31, at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody from 10A.M. – 11:30A.M. A funeral mass will follow at 12 Noon at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1 Margin St. Peabody. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
