Obituary of Francis Joseph Mosson

Fran Mosson, 85, of Peabody died peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 after a yearlong illness. He was husband to the late Claire (Melvin) Mosson with whom he shared 55 years of Marriage. Born in Manhattan NY to Yvonne (Dufault) Mosson and William X. Mosson he was raised in Lawrence, MA and was a resident of Peabody for nearly 60 years. He was a loving father to Tricia Mosson of Salem, MA, Colleen Carlucci and son-in-law Dave of Franklin, MA and Bill Markey of Carlsbad, CA. Papa, Pup and Grampa to three grandchildren David and Ryan Carlucci and Taralyn Markey whom he loved dearly. Preceded in death by his sisters Jean Ward and Grace Kopp he leaves behind sisters Jackie Dustin and husband Damon of Boxford, MA, Pat Haley and husband Tom of Amelia Island, FL, sisters-in-law Dot Honohan and her husband Bill of Salem, NH, Nancy Melvin of North Andover and brothers-in-law Bill Melvin of North Andover and Bob Kopp of Dunedin, FL as well as countless nieces and nephews, friends and extended family. A Veteran of the Korean War, he enlisted at 18 and rose to Corporal in the US Army stationed in Nome, Alaska where his unit braved the intense weather conditions to spy on the Russians. After his discharge he began his career working for Western Electric where he signed on to work on the creation of the DEW (Defense Early Warning) Line in the northern reaches of Canada. He later worked in Sales for various electronic companies including Avnet/Avco before retiring from OSRAM Sylvania. He was a salesman in every sense of the word charming countless neighbors, bartenders, waitresses, nurses, anyone he encountered. Unfailingly polite and a gentleman he was handsome, charming and told terrible jokes. We will miss him dearly. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Friday, June 7th at Alto Forno Restaurant, 41 Cross Street in Peabody beginning at 11 AM. Memories and stories will be shared beginning at 11:45 with lunch to follow.
