Obituary of Robert P. Zalis

Robert P Zalis Jr., 60, of Peabody, died peacefully on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Care One Essex Park, Beverly with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Lynn E. Dow-Zalis He was born in Lynn, MA on November 27, 1958, the son of the late Robert P. and Joan (Askew) Zalis Sr. and was a life long resident of Peabody. He was a graduate of Peabody High School in 1976 and Northeastern University, Boston. He began his career working at Macom Company in Burlington, MA and later at Lockheed- Martin Co in Merrimack, NH before becoming an Assistant Technician at Hogan Regional Center in the William Kelly Assistive Technology in Hathorne, Danvers for the past 15 years. Robert was a man of many talents and was intrigued about all-natural sciences and how they worked. He was an avid reader and loved animals and was a strong supporter of animal shelters. He also enjoyed astronomy. He loved to travel and was a horticulturalist with his flowers and vegetable gardens. He is survived by his wife Lynne Dow -Zalis, of Peabody a brother, Roy Zalis and his wife Sharon of Plattsburg, NY, a sister, Sharon Ainsworth and her husband Keith of Danvers, MA, his nieces Amanda Hampson and her husband Kyle of Flanders, NJ., Dr. Eliza Zalis of Somerville,MA, Eva Zalis of Albany, NY, Gretchen Zalis and his nephew, Joseph Zalis both of Plattsburg, NY and many relatives and friends. A Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2019 at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility from 10:00 until 12:00 PM followed by a service there at 12 Noon. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Friends of Hathorne for the William Kelley Assistive Technology at the Hogan Reginal Center, P.O.
