Obituary of John Nicholas Clare

John Nicholas Jack Clare, 70, formerly of Peabody, died suddenly and unexpectedly last Friday at his home in Atlanta. Born in Peabody, MA, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Macdonald) Clare. He lived in Peabody for many years, and attended Peabody schools, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1950. He graduated from Boston University. Mr. Clare served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He went on to Northeast Airline School and became an Aviation Mechanic. The merger of Northeast Airlines with Delta Airlines brought his job to Atlanta where he moved several years ago. He retired about five years ago. Mr. Clare enjoyed his friends, and family gatherings and love of the Irish culture. He was a member of the A.O. H., Division 11 in Peabody, and his stories brought smiles and laughter to his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by his family, including a sister, Barbara Comeau of Littleton, MA, his numerous nieces and nephews, the Swanson family of Wenham, MA and the Comeau family His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut ST., of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. Grave Committal will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
