Obituary of Mark D. Grayton

Mark D. Grayton, 42, formally of Peabody, died unexpectedly Saturday evening at the Beverly Hospital after being stricken at home. He was the former husband of Sharon (Connors) Grayton. Born in Salem, he was the son of Robert F. & Shirley (Koban) Grayton of Danvers. He had lived in Peabody for most of his youth and had attended Peabody Public Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1978. He later moved to California and has spent the last few years living on the North Shore. After high school, Mr. Grayton joined the United States Army where he served as a Specialist medic with the Special Forces Green Beret. After the Army, he went on to receive his EMT Certification, Real Estate License, and he also had attended Wentworth Institute of Technology and had received a certificate in Welding. Also, while living in California, he was a partner in a successful construction company, Mark was loved by all who knew him and whose sharp wit and personality were always enjoyed at any family gathering, and he enjoyed making people laugh. He loved scuba diving, skiing, dirt bike riding, collecting sorts cards, but above all, spending time with his daughter Alex. Besides his parents, Robert F. & Shirley (Koban) Grayton of Danvers, he is survived by his daughter, Alexandra Grayton of Salem; 3 brothers and sister-in-laws, Glenn & Kelley Grayton, and Robert & Leslie Grayton, all of Danvers, and Kenneth & Stacey Grayton of Peabody; 4 nieces and nephews and many aunts and uncles. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Calvary Baptist Church, Chestnut St., Ext., Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Wednesday from 5-8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility (978) 531-0398. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
