Obituary of Maxine (Walters) Wasson

Maxine L. (Walters) Wasson, 69, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Wednesday evening at Union Hospital after being stricken at home. She was the devoted wife of Gordon L. Wasson with whom she shared over 49 years of marriage. Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Ruth (Chestnut) Walters. She was raised and educated in Williamsport and attended Williamsport Public Schools. She later moved to Massachusetts in 1962, lived in Winthrop for four years and has lived in Peabody for the past 38 years. Mrs. Wasson was a charitable women who was dedicated to her family and to those who less fortunate. She quietly gave of herself and to others and did many acts of kindness to the Peabody community. She was a woman of many talents who enjoyed doing arts and crafts, gardening and had a fondness of animals and flowers. She also was a member of the Dirty Dozen Garden Club of Peabody and contributed to the Peabody Historical Society. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her including her son, Gordon L. Wasson II of Peabody and a daughter, Kimberly Wasson of Peabody. She also is survived by a niece and a nephew. She was the sister of the late Roy Walters. A family and friend gathering will be held on Saturday from 3 until 5 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility followed by a Memorial Service at 5:00 PM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
