Obituary of James T. "Jim" Daley

James T. Jim Daley 80 years husband of Alice M. (Szufnarowski) of Peabody died Wednesday at his home after a lengthy illness. Mr. Daley was born June 10, 1923 in Peabody son of the late James T. and Marie (Hallinan) Daley. He was raised in Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1941. During WWII he served as a Storekeeper Third Class in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the American and Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medals. Mr. Daley was the owner operator of the North Shore Window Cleaning Co. in Beverly from 1956 to 1995. He was also employed with the City of Peabody as a Peabody Firefighter from 1953 to 1982 and was stationed at the Endicott Street Fire House. He served as secretary and treasurer of the AFL-CIO Firefighter Local 925 in Peabody for many years. He was an avid reader and enjoyed golf. In addition to is wife of 54 years he is survived by a daughter and her husband, Kathy M. and Thomas Tremblay of Peabody; a brother and his wife, William and Ann Daley of Manchester-by-the-Sea; 2 sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary O’ Connell and Margaret and James Chenery all of Peabody; 2 grandchildren, Molly and Michael Tremblay of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Monday 3 - 7 p.m. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
