Obituary of Mary T. (O'Rourke) Manning

Mary T. (O’ Rourke) Manning 89 years of Peabody, wife of the late John H. Manning, died Thursday afternoon at the Peabody Glen Health Care Center. Mrs. Manning was born January 2, 1915 in Jamaica Plain daughter of the late Michael and Maria (Deignan) O’ Rourke. She was raised in Jamaica Plain and graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Roxbury. She then attended Burdett College in Boston for 2 yrs. Before making her home in Peabody 53 years ago she had resided in Lynn and Swampscott. Mrs. Manning was very family oriented especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking and traveling. She is survived by 2 sons, John H. Manning and his partner Ellen O’ Neil, Paul M. and his wife Sandra Manning all of Peabody; 2 daughters, Marilyn J. Aham of Peabody and Carol A. Zook of West Covina CA; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Lynne and Greg Bettencourt, Lauren Mullarkey all of Peabody, Kevin and Jennifer Aham of Concord NH, Robert and Angela Zook of San Diago CA; 4 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Tyler and Elyssa Bettencourt of Peabody and Emily Aham of Concord NH; several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Bernard and Francis O’ Rourke. Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Sunday 1 - 4 p.m. Burial will be on Tuesday in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers MA 01923.
