Obituary of Portia L. (Shambos) Pappas

Portia L. (Shambos) Pappas 90 years of Peabody, wife of the late Louis Pappas, died Sunday at the Radius Health Care Center in Danvers. Mrs. Pappas was born November 28, 1913 in Peabody daughter of the late Harry and Mary (Smyrnios) Shambos. She was raised and educated in Peabody. From 1946 and until her return to Peabody in 1972 she had resided in New York. Mrs. Pappas was employed for many years as a clerk at the Everfresh Nut Shop in New York. She was a member of the Philoptohos Athena and St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody. She is survived by a brother, Chris Shambos of Bradenton FL; a sister, Golffo Romeos of Danvers and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late James and George Shambos. Her funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur Facility of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Relative and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody MA 01960.
