Obituary of Sr. Winifred Hall, S.N.D.

Sister Winifred Hall, S.N.D., 85, died Thursday at the Saint Julie Billiart Residential Care Center in Ipswich. Sr. Winifred was born Rita Hall on September 16, 1920 in Somerville daughter of the late Michael and Delia (Spellman) Hall. Sr. Winifred was a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur for 69 years. Sister Winifred received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Emmanuel College in Boston and her Masters in Finance from Boston University. Sister’s ministries were at St. Patrick in Lowell, St. Mary in Waltham, Emmanuel College in Boston, Bishop Stang in No. Dartmouth, Principal at N.D.A. in Tyngsboro, Catholic in Hudson, Principal at St. Mary’s in Danvers. A brother, William Hall of Mountain View CA, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews survive sister. Her siblings Sr. Mary Therese, Sr. Cecilia Marie, Winifred Hall, Catherine McQuade, Thomas, James and Rose Hall pre deceased her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday July 17, 2006 at 3 p.m. in Our Lady Queen Chapel, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Sisters of Notre Dame in Ipswich. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ipswich. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur Retirement Fund, 30 Jeffrey’s Neck Rd., Ipswich MA 01938.
