Obituary of Donald F. MacLean

Donald F. MacLean, 81, beloved husband of Barbara V. (Muise) MacLean of Peabody, died Wednesday evening in the Hunt Retirement & Nursing Home in Danvers following a long illness. Born in New Rockford, North Dakota, he was the son of the late George A. & Emma (Wenz) MacLean. He moved to the North Shore area at age 13, and lived in Peabody for most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Army. He was stationed in Normandy, France and was in the European, African, & Middle Eastern Theatres. He worked as a Machine Operator with Atlantic Gelatin in Woburn, and mostly as the Owner/Operator of Mac’ s Washer Repair serving the North Shore for many years. Mr. MacLean was an avid Outdoorsman who loved fishing & hunting, trips to Sebago Lake in Maine, and especially loved his family and spending sociable times with family and friends. He is survived by: his wife, Barbara V. (Muise) MacLean of Peabody, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage; one son, D. James MacLean of Peabody; four daughters, Linda Lee Haskell, Dawn F. Mercier, Susan J. Marc-Aurele, and Barbara Ann Debruyckere, all of Peabody; one sister, Mary Lou Claffey of Beverly; 10 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Dean MacLean, John MacLean, and Chester MacLean His funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visitation will be today (Friday) from 4 to 8 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923
