Obituary of Peter Kirlis

Peter Kirlis, 83, of Peabody, died early Saturday morning at Salem Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Kaldes) Kirlis with whom he shared over 60 years of marriage. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Efstratios and Eva (Dermitsis) Kirlis. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody and attended Peabody Public Schools and was a graduate of Peabody High School. He was a veteran of World War II, who served with the United States Army. After the war, he went to work for AC Lawrence Leather Company in Peabody as a leather worker and he also started painting houses, both interior and exterior, both careers lasted over 40 years, before retiring many years ago. In addition to his painting, he also enjoyed woodworking and many of his projects would go to the local churches. Besides his loving wife of over 60 years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Roberta Kirlis of Plaistow, NH; two daughters and sons-in-law, Eva and John Galvin of Peabody, and Stella and Bob Bellerose of Plaistow, NH; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by of eight brothers and two sisters. His funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Service in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5 until 8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody
