Obituary of Marie E. (Kenney) Hanvey
Marie E. (Kenney) Hanvey, 89, of Peabody and formally of Lynn, died early Sunday afternoon at the Peabody Glen Nursing home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Hugh W. Hanvey.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary (Webster) Kenney. She was raised and educated in New York, and later moved to Massachusetts and lived in Haverhill, Lynn, and for the past year, in Peabody.
While living in New York, she worked as a Store Model for Upemheimer Collins and later as a cashier for Horn and Hardart, both in New York City, until her retirement many years ago. After her retirement, she became an avid bingo player who enjoyed playing at various bingo games on the North Shore.
She is survived by a daughter, Joan Boutchia of Peabody; a sister, Margaret Griffin of Haverhill; 8 grandchildren, William and Warren Boutchia, Denise Gatta, Debra Mehigan, Diane Passanisi, Darleen Pilgrim, Karen Alfano, and Kelly Brady, 11 great grandchildren and several nephews and cousins. She was the mother of the late Edward and Robert Hanvey, who died this past Friday in New Jersey; she was the sister of the late Bernard Kenney and her twin brother, Edward Kenney, and Sally Kurtzke.
Her Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 10:30 AM to which relatives and friend are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 5 until 8 PM. Burial on Monday, February 2, 2004 in Calverton Nation Cemetery, New York.
