Obituary of Natalie L. (MacPherson) Shorter

Natalie L. (MacPherson) Shorter PEABODY Natalie L. (MacPherson) Shorter, 73, beloved wife of the late James Shorter, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington following a brief illness. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Eugenia (Cerisola) MacPherson. She lived in East Boston in her youth and attended Boston schools. She graduated from Girls High School in Boston, and from Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Boston. She lived in Peabody for over 40 years. Mrs. Shorter worked as a Medical Secretary for Dr. William Wiswall at the West Peabody Medical Building for over 25 years until retiring a little over a year ago, recently was a Volunteer at the Lahey North Shore location. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, vacationing in Maine, swimming, knitting, was an avid reader of mystery novels, and especially loved being with her grandchildren and socializing with family and friends. She is survived by: one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Shorter & David Manley of Danvers; one son and daughter-in-law, David & Kathleen Shorter of Amesbury; two grandchildren, Elisabeth Shorter and Julia Shorter both of Amesbury; one sister, Lois MacPherson of East Boston, and several cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Shorter. . Her Funeral Ceremony will be held on Saturday at 1 PM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 7 P.M. Cremation will follow after the Funeral.
