Obituary of James M. McCarthy

James M. McCarthy 60 years of Peabody died Tuesday evening at the Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. McCarthy was born April 12, 1943 in Peabody son of the late William and Ruth (Cox) McCarthy. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident. Mr. McCarthy was employed for several years as a sweeper at General Electric of Lynn and also at GTE Sylvania. He was a former member of the Lodge of Elks #1409 in Peabody. He is survived by a daughter, Sharon M. McCarthy of No. Andover; 3 brothers, Edward, John and Michael McCarthy all of Peabody; a sister, Barbara Brigley of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a son, Shawn Michael McCarthy and his siblings,William Bill McCarthy and Louise O’ Brien. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location. Relatives and friends may pay their respect Sunday from 6 - 8 p.m. A committal of ashes will be held at the family’ s convenience.
