Obituary of Esther P. Whelton

Esther P. Whelton PEABODY Esther P. Whelton, 89, of Lynn St., died unexpectedly at her home on Monday. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Hannah (Horrigan) Whelton. She was a lifelong resident of the city, and attended Peabody schools. She graduated from St. John’ s Girl’ s High School in Peabody, and then from Salem Commercial School. Miss Whelton worked for over 30 years as a Customer Relations Representative with Boston Gas Company offices in Peabody. She enjoyed animals, especially her cat, her family and friends, and was devoted in her faith. She is survived by: three nieces and a nephew, Patricia & Richard Morneau of Peabody, Polly Whelton of Compton, CA, Maryellen Rossi of San Francisco, CA, and John Whelton of Long Beach, CA; one grandnephew, Matthew Morneau of Peabody. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor Whelton and Marie Carbrey, and brother John Whelton. Her funeral will be held on Friday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at 12 Chestnut St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in St. John’ s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 7 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
