Obituary of William Joseph "Beetle" Sauvageau

William Joseph Beetle Sauvageau 26 years of Peabody died early Sunday morning February 22, 2004 at his home following a long illness. Born in Salem on April 7, 1977 he was the son of Alfred J. and Caroline L. (DeCourcy) Sauvageau. After a tragic pool accident which occurred at the age of 2 years, William spent the next 24 years at home in the loving care of both his parents. Despite many physical limitations William maintained a strong desire to live. Some of William’ s favorite pastimes were going to ocean beaches, trips to Water Country especially the water slide, riding the Merry Go Round, horseback riding. He had a special love for animals and enjoyed visiting the zoo and also listening to the piano and music. He also communicated well with his mother and went to many plays for children in Hamilton. For many years he attended the Briscoe School in Beverly and the South Shore for Brain injured children school. Besides his parents, for 16 years William’ s caretaker was Debbie Farnham. His respiratory therapists were Kathy Crowley and Sue Spenser and his physical therapist was Euphemia Briere. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Edward and Louise DeCourcy of FL; 3 sisters, Nicole Sauvageau of Peabody, Dulcenia Walker and Doris Ellis of NH; 4 brothers, Richard Kee of Danvers, Daniel Kee of NV, Edward Sauvageau Burnett and David Sauvageau Burnett both of ME; several aunts, uncles, cousins and his pug dog Bogie.
