Obituary of Peter Tournas
Peter Tournas 72 years of Peabody died early Tuesday morning at the VA Regional Hospital in Bedford after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Tournas was born March 28, 1932 in Salem son of the late Alexander and Helen (Christakos) Tournas. He was raised and educated in Salem moving to Peabody 15 years ago. During the Korean conflict he served as a private in the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was employed for a few years as a leather worker at Korn Leather Co. of Peabody. He also enjoyed boxing as a sport.
Mr. Tournas is survived by a sister, Bella Tournas of Peabody; a brother and his wife, William Bill and Anna Tournas of Peabody, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. He was also pre deceased by his siblings Christy, James, Charles, Angelo, Aspasia and Pauline Tournas and Loretta McIntyre.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a service at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 7 p.m. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
