Obituary of Ethel M. (Collett) Smith

Ethel Marion (Collett) Smith 74 years of Peabody died Tuesday afternoon at the Salem Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Smith was born October 16, 1929 in Chelsea daughter of the late Frederick and Margaret (Moylan) Collett. She was raised and educated in Melrose moving to Peabody 40 years ago. Mrs. Smith was employed for 35 years at Kappy’ s Liquor on Rte 114 in Peabody retiring as head cashier in November 2003. Her life revolved around her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Smith is survived by 2 daughters and their husbands, Debra L. and William Shannon of Topsfield, Diane M. and Alan Graglia of Peabody; a sister, Margaret Abbott of Franklin; a granddaughter and her husband, Michelle M. and Scott Kelley, 2 great granddaughters, Shaelyn and Hannah Kelley all of Peabody; 2 nephews, Stephen and John Abbott of Franklin and several other nieces and nephews. She was pre deceased by 2 children William John Smith Jr. and Donna J. Smith and a brother-in-law William Bill Abbott. Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody location. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Mass / RI chapter, 220 North Main St., Natick MA 01760.
