Obituary of Antonio "Tony" Correia Jr.
Antonio Tony Correia Jr., 53 years of Peabody died Friday at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody.
Mr. Correia was born January 9, 1951 in Peabody son of the late Antonio and Albertina (Matos) Correia. He attended the Carroll School in Peabody. While attending Bishop Fenwick High School he loved sports and played on the football team. He was a 1969 graduate. He also enjoyed baseball. He received a degree in business administration from Northeastern University where he excelled in his studies.
Mr. Correia was employed for 10 years as the Administrator of U. Mass. Hospital in Worcester becoming afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis in 1987. Due to his illness, he has been confined to a nursing care facility for the past 14 years and was one of the first patients to move into the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody and considered its staff as his extended family.
Mr. Correia is survived by 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Sabrina and Richard Anderson, Jenny Correia all of Peabody, his godmother, Julia Fernandes of Peabody, 2 granddaughters whom he adored, Rhiannon and Olivia Anderson of Peabody; a sister-in-law, Natalia Pimenta of Peabody; a close friend, Sue Nevins of Peabody. He was also the brother of the late Evardo Correia.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St. Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 - 8 p.m. A family committal of ashes will be held at a later day. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Central New England, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham MA 02451-1115.
