Obituary of Marie L. (Beck) Caron
Marie L. (Beck) Caron 84 years of Peabody, wife of the late Roger L. Caron whose family owned Caron’ s Diner in Salem, died Saturday evening at the Salem Hospital after a long illness.
Mrs. Caron was born October 22, 1919 in Watford England daughter of the late Harold and Muriel (Rogers) Beck. She was raised and educated in England. She also studied at the London School of Music and was an accomplished pianist and organist. During WWII she worked for Novabacks in England who manufactured gun cameras and bomb sights for British & American bomber aircrafts. Following WWII and as a war bride she and her eldest son immigrated to the United States making their home in Lynn until moving to Peabody in 1961.
Mrs. Caron was employed for many years at CBS Hytron in Salem. After raising her family, she played the organ at the Town Lynne Restaurant on Rte 1 in Peabody for 5 years. Prior to her retirement in 1987 she was employed in the cafeteria at the Essex Bank at the Northshore Shopping Center. Mrs. Caron was an avid reader, an animal lover and was a worldwide traveler and enjoyed sewing as a hobby.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Linda M. and Stanley Tremblay of Peabody; 3 sons and their wives, David R. and Catherine Caron of LasVegas NV, Steven B. and Betty Caron of Salem and Raymond L. and Lee Caron of Korea; 4 grandchildren, Andrew and Samantha Caron of NV, Matthew and Lauren Tremblay of Peabody.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Ann Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston MA 02130.
