Obituary of Ruth E. (Cook) Burke
Ruth E. (Cook) Burke, 73, of Peabody, died early Monday evening at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John F. Burke.
Born in Medford, she was the daughter of the late Handel and Lulo (Hemeon) Cook. She was raised in the Medford and Arlington area and has spent the last 42 years living in Peabody.
She was a dedicated mom who devoted her time to her family, children, and later her grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, crosswords puzzles, painting and watching her beloved soap operas. She most recently enjoyed attending the Peter A. Torigian Community Life Center in Peabody.
She is survived by four sons, Stanley Burke of Fla., John Burke of Lee, NH and Robert and David Burke, both of Peabody; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Bruce Farris of Freeport, NH, Brenda and Terry Noss of CT, and Doris and Robert Gauthier of Orlando, Fla., three brothers and a sister-in-law, Roy and Ruth Cook of Groveland, and Donald and Ralph Cook, both of Dracut; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and T.C. McCombs of Waterbury, Ct; 16 grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody
