Obituary of Hazel J. (Hurd) Gould

Hazel J. (Hurd) Gould, 77, of Salem and formally of Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Philip F. Gould. Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Sadie (Mosher) Hurd. She was raised and educated in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn English High School. She married and lived in Lynn and later lived in Peabody for over 23 years and has lived in Salem for the past ten months. Prior to her retirement four years ago, she worked as a caretaker for the Charles B. Haven Home in Peabody for the aged for over 23 years. She enjoyed caring for the elderly, doing puzzles and every afternoon, she enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels in her backyard. She is survived by a son, Philip F. Gould Jr., of Peabody; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Phyllis and Chip Chiappini and Nancy and Charles Turner, all of Seabrook, NH, and Donna Davis of Peabody; two sisters, Bertha Nims of Lynn, and Dorothy Blackadar of Peabody, Eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4 until 8 PM Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
