Obituary of Edward H. Church, Jr.
Edward H. Church, Jr., 73, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Margaret (Quinlan) Church, with whom he shared over 49 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, he was the son of the late Edward and Ruth (Fuller) Church. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School. After High School, he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
After the War, he worked over 40 years for the United States Post Office as a clerk until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the VFW Post 1011 in Peabody, enjoyed watching sports, reading, and was a football enthusiast.
Besides his loving wife of 49 years, he is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Edward H. Church, III and his wife Donna of Lancaster, NH, Dana and Wendy Church of Cantonment, Fla., Kevin Church of Peabody, and Robert and Claire Church of Peabody; she also is survived by five grandchildren, Erin, Anna Rose, Patrick, Matthew, and Zachary Church and several nieces and nephews. He was the father-in-law of the late Maryann Church.
His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 5 until 8 PM. Burial will be private.
