Obituary of Benjamin D. Bishop

Benjamin D. Bishop Swampscott—Benjamin Daniel Bishop, 20, sole beloved son of Daniel J. Bishop of Peabody and loving son of Carol (Koenke) Vanlue of New York, died suddenly and unexpectedly while on vacation in Virginia on Friday July 14, 2006. Ben was born in Orlando, Florida, on April 21, 1986. He lived on a small farm in North Carolina in his early childhood, then moved to Swampscott to live with his father at age 10 while he attended school. He lived on his uncle’s farm in Maine for his Senior year in school, graduating from Saccopee Valley High School in June 2003. He attended Salem State College while working a short time for Groom Construction of Swampscott. He most recently worked with his father’s company, as an Environmental Field Technician with Bishop/Sommer Environmental Technologies & Associates based in Peabody. He was looking forward to returning to school this fall to study Criminal Justice to become a Police Officer. He loved the outdoors, was an animal lover—especially dogs and horses, music, fast cars, and movies. He will be dearly missed by family and friends, including: his father, Daniel J. Bishop of Peabody; his mother, Carol Vanlue of NY; a half-brother, Jacob Vanlue of NY; his paternal grandparents, Donald & Joann Bishop of Swampscott, and Foster grandmother, Ruth Witham of Lynn; maternal grandmother Carol Koenke of NY; a great-aunt, Judy Hoague of Peabody; his aunts and uncles, Karen Bishop of Lynn, Donnie & Stacy Bishop of NC, Susan Bishop of Swampscott, David & Kathy Bishop and Jon & Lynda Bishop, and Billy Bishop, all of ME, Steven Bishop of Danvers, Shirley Graham, Bruce & Kathy Wilson, Duke & Sonny Wilson, Jackie, Mike, Jim, Jeff, and John Morelli, all of Lynn; other aunts & uncles Karen & Barry Trontz of NY, Janine & John Katsigianis of NH, Lori Koenke of NY, Kathleen & Steve Gelber of FL, and Charlie & Janet of NY; numerous cousins, Rebecca Trontz, Zachary, Anna, Joshua, and Raymond Koenke of NY, Stephen, Kimberly, Alexa, and Matthew Katsigianis of NH, Danielle, David Gelber of FL, Elizabeth Bishop of Lynn, Brittany, Sara, and Emily Bishop of NC, Taylor, Nicholas, Joshua, and Jolynn Bishop of ME, Hailey Bishop of Danvers, Jody Greenwood of Westport, MA, Jill Hoague of Peabody, Freddy Wilson of Lynn, Bruce Wilson of Cape Cod, David & Belinda Walsh, David & Dylan of Peabody, Marie Wilson, Jennifer Graham, Amanda, and Alicia Wilson all of Lynn, and other very special family friends too numerous to list, yet clearly not forgotten. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday from 5 to 8 P.M., with a Tribute Ceremony starting at 7:30 in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St location, new facility. Following cremation on Friday, a Funeral Procession will gather at 10:50 AM on Saturday, departing at 11:10 AM for the Graveside Committal Ceremony held at 11:30 AM in Swampscott Cemetery, Essex St., Swampscott for urn burial. A reception will follow at the V.F.W. Post 1240, 8 Pine St. in Swampscott.
