Obituary of Lucy (Brooks) Sousa

Lucy (Brooks) Sousa, 98, of Peabody, died Saturday evening at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late John C. Sousa. Born in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Venlant) Brooks. She was raised and educated in Hudson before moving to Peabody and has been living in Peabody for over the past 70 years. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother who adored and cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren She is survived by he loving son and daughter-in-law, John and Catherine Sousa of Peabody; she was a devoted grandmother to Kathleen Sousa, Pamela Sousa-Atwood, Scott Sousa and J.R. Sousa, and great grandmother of Timothy and Justin Sousa. She was the sister of the late John and George and Brooks and Nellie Lobao, Rose Grace, and Lena Santos. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
