Obituary of Nancy A. (Mackie) Mansfield

Nancy A. (Mackie) Mansfield, 94, of Peabody, died early Wednesday evening with her family at her side, at the Seacoast Nursing and Rehab Center in Gloucester after a long battle with Alzheimer’ s disease. She was the wife of the late E. Gerry Mansfield. Born in Peabody, on May 9, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Teckla (Lehtola) Mackie. She was a lifelong resident of the city and attended Peabody schools. She was a longtime active member of the West Congregational Church in West Peabody, where she served as the organist and was a member of the choir for over 40 years. She also was actively involved in several community groups and organizations devoting many years to the Peabody Women’ s Club as President, historical Society and 4-H clubs. Both she and her late husband spent many years involved as members of the Grange serving as a National Officer, and also was a member of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Noreen Mansfield of Georgetown, a daughter-in-law, Janice Mansfield of Peabody, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, and also is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late John F. Mansfield. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the West Congregational Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Friday from 5-8 PM at the COnway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility. Burial in Willow Cemetery, Lynnfield.
