Obituary of Mary A. (Karahalis) Athas

Mary A. (Karahalis) Athas Peabody--Mary A. (Karahalis) Athas, died peacfully Wednesday March 24, 2004 at her winter home in Tamarac, Florida. Mrs. Athas was born in Peabody, daughter of the late Aristodemos and Stravroula (Argeros) Karahalis. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a lifelong resident of the City. Mrs. Athas owned and operated the Silhouette Beauty Shop on Central St. in Peabody for over 50 years. She was a past board member of The Infant Savior and for the past 40 years a member of the Boston Yacht Club, and St. Vasilios Church in Peabody She is survived by 2 sons and a daughter-in-law; Kenneth and Natalie Athas of Beverly, Arthur A. Athas Jr., of Venice, CA; a daughter, Constance M. Athas of New York City; three brothers, John Karahalis and Leo Karahalis both of Peabody, Michael Karahalis of St. Petersburgh, FL; 2 grandchildren; Jennifer Athas and Jessica Athas both of Boston, MA, A very special niece Mary Catherine Kasweck of Melbourne, FL and her very loving and loyal caregiver Pauline Jackson of Ft. Lauderdale FL. She also was the wife of Arthur Athas of Peabody. She was the sister of the late Thelka Karahalis. Her funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Vasilios Church , Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. location. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
