Obituary of Mary F. Costa Fereira

Mrs. Mary F. Costa Fereira, 89, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Thursday at the Salem Hospital. She was the wife of the late Manuel Antonio Fereira. She was born in Ft. Jones, California on Jan. 11, 1915, the daughter of Velisimo and Francisca (Cunha)Costa and was raised in California before moving to Gracioza, Azores , Portugal. She resided with her husband there and following his death in 1962, She returned to California where she resided before moving to Peabody 10 years ago. She had been employed in the nursing home industry in California prior to her Retirement. She enjoyed crocheting and being with her family. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Maria Bettencourt of Peabody, a brother, Arlen Costa and a sister, Olivia Maxine Santos both of Ft. Jones, California, 5 grandchildren, Natilio and his wife Deliela Bettencourt of Salem, Mary Lu Bettencourt and Vinicio Bettencourt both of Peabody, Elza and her husband Michael Leo of Amesbury and Linda Bettencourt of San Francisco, Ca., 3 great grandchildren, Tessianna, Natalin and Patrick Bettencourt all of Salem and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Sylvia Costa and the grandmother of the Ana Bettencourt. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. .
