Obituary of Frances "Midge" (Kramer) Makela
Frances (Kramer) Makela, 83, of Peabody, died early Friday at the Lahey Clinic North Hospital, Peabody following a short illness. She was the wife
Of the late Henry murph Makela.
Born and raised in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Julia (Koblanski) Kramer and had resided here most of her life. She was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1935 and was a recipient of the George Peabody Award.
She was first employed at the former GTE Sylvania Co. in Salem and later worked at the CBS Hytron Co. in Danvers. She then became a teller at the Warren Five Savings Bank in Peabody where she was employed for 20 years before retiring as an assist. Treasurer in 1978. An avid golfer, she had been the womens club champion at the
Former Peabody Country Club and later belonged to the Wenham Golf Club with her late husband. She enjoyed bingo at the Peabody Life Center and loved to care for her
Family. She had been a member of the Holy Rosary Society of the former St. Joseph’ s
Church in Peabody.
She is survived by a daughter, Marie Archung of Danvers and a son, Thomas Makela of Fremont Ca.; 4 grandchildren, Christine and Dan Archung of Danvers,Ma.
And Kendra and Kelly Makela of Fremont Ca., 2 sister-in-laws, Betty Makela of
Beverly and Dot Makela of Delande, Fl., and many nieces and nephews. She was the
Sister of the late John, Joseph and Stanley Kramer.
Her funeral will be held on Monday at 8:00 a.m. from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut
St., Peabody of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, followed by a funeral Mass
In St. John’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting hours on Sunday from 4:00 - 7:00 P.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited
