Obituary of Olga (Steriou) Xerras

Olga (Steriou) Xerras, 91, of Peabody died Thursday at the Lahey Northshore Clinic, Peabody after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Christos Xerras. She was born and raised in Albania on August 27, 1912, the daughter of the late Gregory and Bessie (Milo) Steriou, and had resided in Peabody for the past seventy years. Mrs. Xerras had been employed at the former Rex Leather Co., Peabody for thirty three years prior to her retirement in 1965. She was active in St. Vasilios Church and was a member of the Philoptohos Society. She also belonged to the Peabody Golden Agers and the Council on Aging. She enjoyed playing Bingo and traveling. She is survived by a daughter with whom she resided, Aphrodite C. Xerras of Peabody, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Spiros C. and Malama Xerras and Achilles C. and Stacia Xerras all of Peabody, and Socrates C. and Bessie Xerras of Danvers, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Galani Ravalle. Her Funeral will be held Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a services at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours on Monday from 4- 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
