Obituary of Jack J. Cahill

Jack J. Cahill, 53, of Middleton, died Thursday evening at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Donna (Riddell) Cahill with whom he shared over 30 years of marriage. Born in Okinawa, Japan, he was the son of Frances (Whitmore) Cahill and the late Joseph H. Cahill. He later lived in Swampscott and has spent the last 25 years living in Middleton. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the United States Navy. He worked for over thirty years for Boston University, and prior to his illness, was an assistant director of Mail Service at Boston University Medical Center in Boston. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed all of Boston’ s Professional Sports Teams. He also was active with youth sports and coached Little League Baseball and Basketball in Middleton and later at Masco in Topsfield. Besides his loving wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Cahill and his fiancé Renee Payton of Natick, and Joseph Cahill of Middleton; a daughter, Jill Cahill of Middleton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jane and Mal Weiner of Peabody and Pat and Bruce Davidson of Lexington Park, MD; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Linda Riddell of Danvers, a father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Louise Riddell of Swampscott and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a great niece. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Agnes Church, Middleton to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Monday from 4 until 8 PM. Burial in Oakdale Cemetery, Middleton. Expressions of sympathy can be sent to the American Lung Assoc., 1 Abbey Lane, Middleboro, Ma 02346-3230.
