Obituary of Robert F. Wlasuk

Robert F. Wlasuk, 71 years of Peabody, husband of the late Jacquelyn (Micalchuck) Wlasuk, died Tuesday at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Wlasuk was born September 12, 1931 in Salem son of the late Alexander and Evelyn (Conway) Wlasuk. He was raised in Salem and Peabody and graduated from Peabody High School class of 1949. He resided in Peabody for most of his life. Mr. Wlasuk was employed for 35 years as a manager for the First National Store chain on the North Shore until their closing. While employed for the First National Stores he attended Essex Agricultural in Danvers to learn about food servicing. He later was employed as a custodian for the Peabody School Department until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Wlasuk was the Peabody Historical Society military curator, founder and coordinator of the Ward 2 Civic Association and served on the Board of Directors for the Peabody Veterans Memorial High School Booster Club. He enjoyed participating in the WESX trivia question contests. He was an avid sports fan and a PVMHS supporter of sports. As hobbies Mr. Wlasuk built model airplanes and would recreate figurine military battle scenes. He is survived by a son and his wife, Scott M. and Dorothy Wlasuk of Peabody; a daughter and her husband, Patricia E. and Robert Brown of Fremont NH; 3 grandsons, Sean and Cody Wlasuk of Peabody and Jonathan Brown of Fremont NH. His funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4 - 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Peabody Historical Society, 35 Washington St., Peabody MA 01960 or the Peabody Athletic Department at PVMHS, 485 Lowell St., Peabody MA 01960.
