Obituary of Mary (Brennan) Day

Mary (Brennan) Day, 85, of the Peabody House, Peabody, died Tuesday evening at the Shaughnessey Rehab. Hospital, Salem after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Lawrence Rip Day. She was born in Salem, MA on May 15, 1919, the daughter of the late James F. and Agnes (Fitzpatrick) Brennan and had resided there before moving to Peabody 18 years ago.. She had been a telephone operator at the General Electric Co., Lynn for 25 years prior to her retirement and was a member of the GE Quarter Century Club. She was very active in volunteering and had participated as a volunteer at the Salem Hospital for over 25 years. She was also a member of the North Shore Catholic Charities and St. James Church Ladies Sodality. Mrs. Day enjoyed watching sports, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox and loved to shop for bargains. She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Katherine McNamee Sidman and her husband Max Sidman both of Peabody, and her nieces and nephews, Patrick Mc Namee of Salem, Johanna Mc Namee of Derry, NH, James Mc Namee of New Bedford, a, Mark Mc Namee of Blacksburg, VA and William Mc Namee of Edmonton, Canada and many grand nieces and grand nephews. She was the mother of the late Brian Day, and the sister of the late Arthur and Francis Brennan and Agnes Caron. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the Conway, Cahill- Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church ST., Peabody facility. A Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Prior to the Services. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
