Obituary of Arthur V. Mc Carthy
Arthur V. McCarthy, 82, beloved husband of Margaret Lorraine (Neil) McCarthy, died Tuesday evening at the Blueberry Hill Nursing Home in Beverly following a long illness.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Justin and Margaret (MacDonald) McCarthy. He lived in Revere in his youth, and attended Revere schools. He graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, then Butera School of Art in Boston.
Mr. McCarthy was a veteran of World War II, with service in the United States Army.
He was self-employed as a Graphic Artist involved in advertising, and operated his firm Design Associates first in Malden, then in Wakefield for 40 years until retiring 12 years ago.
He loved being with his family, and restoring antique cars, and enjoyed planes as he had a (Small Plane) Private Pilot’ s License. He was also an avid history buff.
He is survived by: his wife, Margaret Lorraine (Neil) McCarthy of Peabody, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage; two sons, Arthur D. McCarthy of Danvers and Mark McCarthy of Reading; four daughters, Deborah Bryant-Supino and Kerianne Allain, both of Lynnfield, and Karen O’ Neil and Catherine Rosano, both of Manchester, NH; 14 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Dr. Allan McCarthy of Arlington and Fred MacDonald of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Justin McCarthy and a sister, Helen Carter.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Friday from 4 to 7:50 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, at the 12 Chestnut St.Peabody location, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 8 PM. Cremation will follow the ceremony.
Urn burial will be held on Tuesday May 25, 2004 at the Cremation Garden section at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody to which all are invited.
Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923 in his memory.
