Obituary of Ann (Papuchis) Mekeadis

Ann (Papuchis) Mekeadis 98 years, wife of the late George Mekeadis, died Saturday morning at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Center in Salem. Mrs. Mekeadis was born October 15, 1905 in Kalamata Greece daughter of the late Charles and Dimitra (Asimakis) Papuchis. She immigrated to the United States in 1910 and has since resided in Peabody. During her lifetime she has witnessed so many new inventions and world conflicts. Mrs. Mekeadis devoted her life to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by a son and his wife, Charles and Alexandra Mekeadis of Salem; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Cleo-Niki and Gregory Filias of York Maine and Thalia Binky Chambers of Kennebunkport Maine; 6 grandchildren, John Chambers of Bow NH, George Chambers of Brownsville VT, Leslie Chambers of Kennebunk ME, George Mekeadis of Salem, Cynthia Ramos of Swampscott and Gregory Filias of York ME; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A daughter Stella Bisgrove predeceased her. A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 7 Paleologos St., Peabody. Relatives and friends may pay their respects Tuesday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody location. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
