Obituary of John F. "Buddy" Bennett

John F. Buddy Bennett PEABODY John F. Buddy Bennett, 82, beloved husband of the late Patricia C. (Watson) Bennett, died unexpectedly on Saturday evening at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Melrose, he was the son of the late John and Beatrice Bennett. He lived in Melrose in his youth, and attended Melrose schools. Mr. Bennett worked as a Hoisting Engineer with Operating Engineers Union, Local 4 before his employment with Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody where he was the Master Mechanic for 24 years. He retired about 10 years ago. He served in the United States Army, as part of the Air Corps before this branch developed into the U.S. Air Force, during World War II. He was stationed in the Asiatic Pacific Theater and earned a Bronze Star. He attained the rank of Corporal. He is survived by: two sons, John E. Bennett of Peabody and Brian M. Bennett of Gorham, NH; five grandchildren, Jacquelyn Easton of Merrimack, MA, John Bennett of Amesbury, Stephanie Bennett of Walpole, Andrew Bennett and Jeffrey Bennett, both of Gorham, NH; three great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Kyle, and Cameron all of Walpole; one sister, Beatrice Dinardi of Melrose, and several nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut ST. Location, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. Adelaide’ s Church, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody
