Obituary of Joseph Maril Haley

Joseph M. Haley, 80, of So. Peabody died Sunday morning at the Salem Hospital following a short illness. He was the husband of Eugenie (Hyde) Haley with whom he would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 6, 2004. Mr. Haley was a lifelong Peabody resident born on September 3, 1923 the son of the late William H. and Mary (Carroll) Haley and attended Peabody Schools. He was a veteran of WW 11 serving in the Army Air Corps in central Europe and was a member of Ninth Air Force and also belonged to the Ninth Air Force Association of Dayton Ohio. Following his discharge, he worked in the Leather Industry for 35 years at Gnecco-Grilk,Hawthorne Tanning and Fidelity Leather Co. prior to his retirement. He then worked part time for the past 11 years at the Mc Vann- O’ Keefe Ice Rink in Peabody. He loved to travel to the West Coast and was an avid Red Sox fan. Surviving him besides his wife are 3 sons and a daughter-in-law, William Haley of Beverly, Edmund and his wife Jo-Anna Haley and Mark Haley all of Peabody, a daughter, Elizabeth Haley of Peabody, 3 grandchildren, Philip, Andrea and Ava Haley all of Peabody and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late William D. Haley. His funeral will be held on Thursday from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St., Peabody facility followed by a Funeral Mass in ST. Ann’ s Church, So. Peabody at 9:00 a.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
