Obituary of Helena (Vagalis) Maihos
Helena A. (Vagalis) Maihos, 86, of Peabody died Wednesday evening at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late James Maihos.
She was born in Peabody on January 19, 1918, the daughter of the late Konstantine and
Margareta (Angelakis) Vagalis and had resided here all her life.
She entered the Women’ s Army Corps during WW 11 and served as a clerk/ typist for
Three years prior to her discharge in San Diego in 1946.
She was a bookkeeper at the Jeffers Lumber Co. for 20 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Vasilios Church order of Philoptohos and the Daughters of Penelope.
She is survived by a son, Charles James Maihos of Hamilton and many nieces and nephews. She was the Sister of the late Frances Speleakos.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at
the 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility followed by Services in St. Vasilios Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:30 AM Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Visiting hours on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Relatives and friends kindly invited.
