Obituary of Robert M Santamaria

Robert M. Santamaria, 55, of Peabody, died Saturday evening at his home following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of Ellen (Wynn) Santamaria with whom he shared over 28 years of marriage. Born in Revere, he was the son of the late Ernest and Margaret (Krebs) Santamaria. He was educated in Revere and later attended Wakefield High School, graduating in 1967. After high school, he entered the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War as a Military Police Officer until 1970. Upon marrying his wife Ellen, he moved to Peabody and has been a resident of Peabody for the past 29 years. Prior to his illness, he worked for over 36 years for AT&T in Cambridge as a communications technician. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching all of Boston’ s professional sports teams. He also enjoyed motorcycle and car racing. He loved science fiction movies, Star Wars, and Star Trek and was a Trekkie. He loved to celebrate the Holidays, Christmas, July 4th and for the past 14 years his home would be turned into a Haunted House with many special effects during Halloween. Bob and also his daughter JoyAnn had a bond for thrill seeking amusements rides. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter, JoyAnn Santamaria of Philadelphia, a sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Frank Jeffrey of Revere, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lance and Lisa Trulli of East Boston; his father and mother-in-law, Alphonse and Frances Trulli of Revere; a nephew, Scott Jeffrey, a niece, Michele Jeffrey, and a grandniece, Jessica Santiago, all of Wakefield, and is also survived by two nieces and several cousins. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Conway Facility, of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 3 until 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the NSMC Cancer Center, 17 Centennial Dr., Peabody, MA 01960.
